CURRICULUM BY GRADES

Listed here are curriculum by grades. Scroll down the page until you find the grade level you need. All of these materials can be purchased from The Curriculum Book Store.

Choosing a curriculum by grade level is dependent on the child's ability. Don't choose a curriculum because that is the level he should be. If you're going to use this curriculum for remediation, than forget grade level and focus what will be best for him to learn.

Some students may be in first grade but only able to do the kindergarten workbooks. On the other hand, a child in second grade may be working on the workbooks recommended for fourth grade. Forget grade level as you are establishing a good foundation.

You and your tutor should decide what workbook and which curriculum is best for him.

FOR PARENTS

For parents who are wanting to home school the learning disabled child, I recommend the following manuals. You don't need them all, but you should read at least one of them.

THE GILLINGHAM MANUAL
This manual will teach you how to teach your child the first letter sounds and then how to build these sounds into words. The Orton-Gillingham approach uses visual, kinesthetic and auditory senses to help the child remember the concepts taught.

The manual includes step by step instruction for each lesson and strategies for teaching every skill. There are also workbooks and decodable books to use with your child.
