BIOGRAPHIES FOR KIDS

"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free."
Frederick Douglas

Biographies are one of the best ways to teach children not only history but the love of reading!  WHY?  Biographies are non-fiction and a lot more interesting to read than plain facts that are written in a textbook.  Biographies are usually written in a conversational manner and contains more facts than a textbook.

There are biographies, autobiographies and historical fiction for all reading levels.  I often use these types of books to teach reading because of the interest level.  Below you will find some of my most favorite biography series and historical fiction series.

The Rush Revere series are for 3rd grade level through 7th grade.  This series gets high reviews from those who have purchased the books.

The Who Was Series and I Am Series are for 7 - 9 year olds, K-2 grade.  I love these series.  You will find biographies for presidents, singers, scientists, astronauts, famous athletes and other historical figures.

For Kids Series was written mainly for 4th grade to 6th grade students.  However, if a child is interested in any of these figures, they may also enjoy the books.

Of course there are a lot more books than I could list here.  Just type in the author's name or the name of the series in the search box.

OTHER SPECIALTY BOOK STORES

These other specialty book stores which are included in the Reading Cornerstone Store were created just for you so that you don't have to browse thousands of books only to obtain a book that may not be right for you.  I have included not only books that I have read but books that have been recommended to me by colleagues.
